Security: All your data is going to a server. Why would you want one company owning a large monopoly over the servers who use their system?

It's a trade off for players to use the client: Pixelmon players will have to constantly client swap to play on their favorite servers, cannoners will have a harder time if the CB devs do not decide to add cannon mod support. Support: Cheatbreaker claims on their site to only offer partnership support to networks, so not a lot of servers will use this system. All subject to cracks in the past, and huge corporations with some of the most talented developers on the planet. It would pretty much be impossible to make the client crackable, no matter how much you advertise it's safer than Fort Knox. Here are a few reasons:Īttempted editing: People will find ways to edit or reverse engineer the client. This is a failure as a long-term solution. What is stopping me from passing along a hacked client's signature as valid with Cheatbreaker's?

Rather than straining the player base of Desteria, I feel that we should give some more time to develop DAC before we try something as radical as forcing a client onto everyone.ĭAC is consistently getting better, and I'm certain that DAC is constantly flagging and getting staff verification for cheaters, which is making DAC learn how to pick up suspicious activity from players better and better.Īs easy it is to say "DAC is a joke", or anything else among the lines of regarding DAC as useless, players should look into how DAC functions, and how it's much more than a few lines of code.Ĭlients can be cracked. The main problem with fuly implementing CheatBreaker into Desteria is players who use Linux or Mac ( not being able to play their favorite server anymore. That aside, CheatBreaker is with no doubt a guarantee of safety from any sort of unfair advantage, but despite that guarantee CheatBreaker should be kept to selective 1v1 servers, not diverse servers with large player bases such as factions. I've logged 62 hours total and spent countless hours of PvP and Nex and haven't had a single issue with any players.Ĭlick to expand. Those are rookie numbers Personally I don't think I have run into a single cheater in all my time on Desteria.

This is just my take on the subject, I think a client like Cheatbreaker would hurt Desteria a lot more than it would help. Once again I imagine we'd see a loss of player count, and that is a loss of revenue for the community as a whole.

Whats the average player count of Desteria? 600? 700? Not everyone has knowledge of how to mod Minecraft and choose different. The effort required to push a change this drastic would be wasted labor. The ability to choose your own mods (mods that follow Desterias' rules of course) is amazing, and on any version after 1.8? Lots of freedom there, and that is one thing I really love about Desteria.
